The staff couldn’t do enough for us - very helpful but...

The staff couldn’t do enough for us - very helpful but discreet and friendly. The bed was fantastic and the sheets and towels were excellent quality. Loved the large bath tub, excellent water pressure and temperature.

The room was a little dark and the breakfast items are overpriced. Perhaps needs a slight update - lifts very small and rickety, corridors dark and poky, but all made up for with the excellent service and location.

Slightly odd atmosphere

Rather shabby room , too dark ,especially the bathroom, impossible for a female guest to see make up being applied etc and no long mirrors ,showers not working properly ,very strange noises from room above, all those odd sliding panels and not being able to get to closets were impractical for a couple whose husband was there for business. Service good

Location and staff

Nowhere to put your suitcases. Room too small. Ambiance too dark. Should be able to make rooms lighter if possible. Radios too loud in hallway at night. (Presume staff but not sure)

I loved the cosy atmosphere.

I loved the cosy atmosphere. I arrived just a bit earlier before check in time and the staff was extremely friendly and sat my in the small courtyard outside and offered me a cafe latte. The room was small but cosy and the decoration was beautiful. The restaurant at night was busy and had a cool flair, the food was delicious and service perfect. I was leaving very early to catch a flight and the staff organized a small take away breakfast which I found very considerate.

Fantastic and wonderfully comfortable atmosphere minus late night loud music from private event

Absolutely beautifully room with gorgeous and clean bathroom. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Location was easy to find and in a quiet area of London which was a plus.

Whilst the room was perfect for what I was looking for in a night away, very loud music began pouring through the walls/floorboards at about 10:30pm. Having a very early start the next morning and having booked the room for a quiet and restful night away, this was obviously not ideal. After the front desk assured me the music would be reduced at the private event being held downstairs, I eventually rang again after twenty minutes once it was clear the music was still very loud. The gentleman at the front desk was lovely and apologetic about the situation. He eventually transferred me to another, much quieter room and offered a complimentary breakfast. When all was said and done I was finally able to fall asleep around midnight. Unfortunately much later than I had planned when booking the room and I do look back on the money and time spent as a bit wasteful on my part as the night away was meant as a chance to recharge and relax. I do hope to stay again in the future as Blakes has been on my London list for years now and I would hate for this experience to be my only with the hotel. I will certainly be sure to ask about any private events being held the next time.

High promise, let down by poor service and dilapidated appliances.

The room was pretty on the surface but lots of small issues.

1. I spoke at length with the concierge to arrange flowers and a dessert to make the room nice for our arrival. Staying one night for our wedding anniversary. This was not done. I messaged through the app to the and later got a call at 11pm(!) to say they had a surprise for us to which i replied it was too late now. I had said to that staff member to 'do not disturb' also, maybe they realised they hadn't done as asked - honestly - you get one chance to make a good impression. I'll be checking my bill to make sure im not charged for the flowers and dessert. 2. The room numbering system is frustratingly ridiculous. Given a key to 207. took the elevator up (the concierge didnt come up to show us). Then we found rooms 201 - 206, 211 but then the other rooms through a glass divider door were 1, 2, 3 etc. So not wanting to try rattling an old key in someones lock we went back down. The conceirge then walked us up two flights and opened room 7. Despite the key saying 207. and all rooms up to 206 being labelled as such. 3. The room. call an electrician! And try using the lights yourselves. beside light, slide control turned off one, but the other would only go dim (not off). All standing lamps in the room had to be manually switched off on the neck, despite there being group dimmer controls by the front door for the other lights. Al the light switches were dimmer switches, black on a black wall, with no labels. So after a night out at the theatre i had to play electrician, calling from the room by the door to my wife in the bedroom, 'is it on, what did that do?' for 5 minutes until we had worked out what did and did not work. How relaxing. 4. The room was incredibly dusty. 5. The TV was old and the sky remote had seen better days. 6. We had forgotten our mobile chargers so called down for one. They couldnt provide it but said we could charge at reception. A £550 a night hotel.

Not for single, female business travellers

Breakfast was serviceable but nothing special. The location was further away from the tube stations than I expected. I was very disappointed with the the service - with exception of Gabriella, the staff were arrogant and slightly rude. This is not a hotel I would recommend for single female business travellers.

The service, with the exception of Gabriella was arrogant and made me as a single, female traveller of a certain age feel very uncomfortable. I had to ask for my bathroom toiletries to be replenished and I definitely don’t need a condom to be included in the bathroom kit.

I like the full luxury service, also loving the atmosphere here a lot since I'm an architect, I really do love Blakes and definitely will be back here again with my family and boyfriend for other more experiences in distinguish room of Blakes'.
